Lot of meta-chatter on micro.blog re: it is or it isn't a replacement for Twitter. I'm not going to link to this over there, because there's enough being said... but I will note mostly for myself that I while I personally subscribe to the ideas behind m.b and the indieweb (generally, POSSE), I don't think a wide cross-section of Twitter-replacement hunters are looking for that. They want a place to go, not to own a place of their own.
They want the superiority of being the first of their friends at The New Place, not to be independently creative.
