Apache+grep command of the day

grep -ir "^listen" /etc/httpd/*

quickly pulls out all the active ‘Listens’ in your Apache config files.

Didn’t ultimately explain the PORT binding issue I had this afternoon after rebooting a working system for the first time since setup 10 or 12 days ago, but handy nonetheless.

The port issue was resolved by removing the Listen (line 1) from this code, the complete contents of a certain software logger’s Apache .conf file.

Listen 3333
<VirtualHost *:3333>
    ServerName logAPI.localhost
    DocumentRoot /var/www/logAPI/src
    ErrorLog /var/log/httpd/logAPI-error.log
    CustomLog /var/log/httpd/logAPI-access.log combined
</VirtualHost>

I suspect it has to do with SELinux’s allowed http ports. It’s working at the moment but when I don’t fully understand why, I get nervous. To investigate further…
